created by photogrid

Hi there!

I wanted to send you some new photos of Max at six months old.  He just had his 2nd visit to the groomer and he was a really good boy.  As you can see his snout and ears are turning gray.  We are excited to see if he looks silver like his handsome daddy, Milo, some day!!

He is very curious and bright and often learns by watching what His brother Beau does. If I am telling Beau he is a good boy for a certain behavior, then shortly after Max starts copying the good behavior.

He is a little taller than his lab brother already!

In general he has been a good puppy, aside from chewing just one sandal, a couple couch pillows, and some corners of our kitchen chairs.  Nothing that can’t be replaced!

He still sleeps all night and has adjusted well to our underground dog fence!

He has a very playful happy personality and we all love him very much!!

Good luck with your new puppy litter!

Thank you so much!

“ Marvelous Miss Maisy”!!

Update: Maisy Dec. 2024.

created by photogrid

Hi Charlene and Terry,

Hope you had an enjoyable Christmas!
Thought I would share a photo of Maisy taken moments ago as she recuperates from her first Christmas and spending 6 hours with our 10 year old, Granddaughter, Gianna.
Maisy continues to thrive and seems to be a happy girl! She is scheduled to be fixed in early January; she went through heat in October.
Wishing you both blessings in the New Year!
Fondly,
Brian, Linda and Maisy

Update Maisy: Easter 2024.

created by photogrid

Maisy went for her first “big girl haircut” earlier this week and thought I would share a picture.

Maisy celebrated her first major holiday at home with Brian, me, our son, his wife and our 9 year old granddaughter, Gianna.  She enjoyed and played with them all, especially our granddaughter. Gianna spent the day with us on Wednesday and spent most of the day playing with Maisy. Needless to say, Maisy (as well as Brian and I) were exhausted and slept well that night 😴

Maisy also had a vet appointment and received more vaccines, including her rabies shot. She weighed in at 25.2 lbs. The vet says she is doing well – she has lost about 4 teeth and the adult ones are coming in. We honestly can’t wait for all the teeth to come in, so she stops using us as her teethers.

She enjoys “shopping trips” to pet stores, The Home Depot and Lowes. She rides well in the car and rarely barks. She is curious about everything and is fascinated with the bubbles in the sink when I wash dishes. She is continuing to learn tricks easily, loves to play with all her toys (she has a lot of them 😜), consistently sleeps through the night without going outside to potty. Potty training went smoothly and we are now trying to train her to let us know if she has to go out by using a button to press that says “potty outside” near the door.

She is a joy!

created by photogrid

Maisy will be living with Linda & Brian in Oh.

Update : Maisy at 14 wks.

created by photogrid

Hi Charlene and Terry,

Hope all is well with you both! We are tired but happy🤪 One forgets just how busy puppies can be ….

Thought we would give you an update on how Maisy is doing. We went to the vet this week and she weighed in at 24.4 pounds – a little over a ten pound gain from the past month’s weight. The vet said she is right on track, as large dogs tend to gain an average of about 10 pounds per month.

Maisy has mastered the sit, shake and down commands. She even did them for the vet.  We are currently working on come and stay. She also is getting pretty good at give, fetch and catch. We have been taking her to stores that will let us bring her in, as well as a visit to my old place of work, and a couple visits with our son and his family at his house. She seems eager to meet and greet strangers; we hope this will continue.

The vet proclaimed her perfect, which we, of course, were happy to hear. She loves to play and has lots of toys to choose from. She also enjoys watching out the full view storm door we have of all the comings and goings of the neighborhood. We should call her the mayor of Roosevelt Ave.

She transitioned easily to going potty outside, both pee and poop. At first I needed to be outside with her, but now she goes by herself. She also goes to the side door when she has to go and wakes me at night with either a paw on my shoulder or a nose bop on my cheek.

We are working on the puppy biting; this is especially on display when she is tired. She tends to have a final burst of energy (we call her Crazy Maisy) until she settles down for a nap or for the night. She sleeps in about 4 or 5 hour chunks at night, settling in about 7 pm. It will be interesting to see how the time change this weekend goes …

I have included 2 photos, taken today so you see how she has grown.  She is developing some lighter color on her muzzle which you can see more clearly in the second photo. She has another grooming visit in early April for her first big girl haircut

Again, hope you and Terry are feeling well. We’ve been checking the website and it looks like only one puppy is not spoken for yet. It must be bittersweet to see them all placed.

Fondly,
Brian, Linda and Maisy

Missy’s first meal at her new home. And playing with her new toys.

After her new grooming above.

She is doing well – she seems to learn something new every day! We just went out this morning and she both peed and pooped outside – she no longer needs the newspapers outside, although we have left them inside. She has had a couple of times she used the inside papers,  yet that was our fault. Like you, moving quickly is getting harder and had we been able to reach her in time, she would not have had to use the papers.

She is eating and drinking well and looks forward to a Bil-Jac treat after success outside. She is coming along nicely with down, come and shake; we are working with her several times daily with these commands. She also is doing well walking on the leash -she originally just put her butt down when the leash went on – it was kind of funny – it was like a switch was flipped.

She enjoys playing with her toys – we of course have added some additional ones and swap them out every other day, so they always seem new and exciting and she is developing favorites. She knows the name of some of them and will go get them and bring them to us when asked. The blanket you gave is always in her bed and occasionally wrapped around her as she bites and rolls in it ….

Meet Maisy, our recently SOLD Black Royal Standard Poodle Puppy, a sweet, loving, and confident female. Below Milo as a Puppy as his coat lightens.

By Mackey J. Irick, Jr – The New Poodle 1986
Silver is a most appealing color in Poodles. It may vary from a glistening light platinum to a light gray flannel, but a silver Poodle should be an even color all over with no shadings. Silvers should have black eyes, nose and toe nails. To many people a pair of coal black eyes set in a frame of silver hair is almost irresistible. Silvers are favorites with exhibitors and pet owners.

Chapins Silver Royal Milo

Milo will continue to turn platinum Silver until he is 18 month to 2 yrs old.

Meet Milo, our majestic Royal Standard Poodle, a regal descendant of Abby and Harrison.

Pictures below are of Puppies at 2 days old.

All black, Blue and Silver puppies are born black and change as they mature.

Since Milo is turning platinum Silver and his father is a Silver and White Tuxedo. It is possible that these puppies could turn silver.

Milo’s History.

As we chatted with a friend who was helping care for a special litter, we learned about a heartwarming tale.

A few years ago, a couple acquired a female puppy from our friend, forming a bond that transcended the years. Tragically, the lady succumbed to COVID during the pandemic, leaving her 84-year-old husband in need of assistance with the litter her Female had birthed.

In a touching video call, our friend revealed the remaining two male puppies from that remarkable litter. As she narrated the puppies’ stories, one stood out—a magnificent black male with an unusual feature that left us in awe. With sheer excitement, she showcased Milo, the biggest of them all, with a distinctive silver nose.

In that moment, our hearts resonated with a lifelong dream fulfilled. Milo, the silver-nosed Royal Standard Poodle, would soon join our family, turning an ordinary conversation into a remarkable chapter of joy and companionship.

I stated thinking it would be nice to breed Milo with our Treasure who is Major’s daughter. Milo was about 6 months old and Treasure should be coming into heat about now.

I talked to Dr. Robert Hutchinson at Animal Clinic Northview Inc. in North Ridgeville,Ohio. They have 30 vets at his clinic. Dr. Hutchinson is world renowned in animal reproduction, some think he is the beast in the world.

I explained to Dr Hutchinson that I am 75 yrs old not in good health and if I wait until Milo is 2 yrs old like we usually do with our other poodles I will be 77 yrs old and still have to wait for a female to come into heat. Which could take another 6 to 9 months. I would be 78 yrs old.

Dr Hutchinson was very nice and kind and told me to bring Milo up and have his sperm checked. But not to get my hopes up. As he has never seen a males seman be viable in a 6 month old male dog. The Dr. told me that the dogs testicals do not develop until he is 10 to 11 months old.

Well lo and behold Treasure did not come into heat when she was supposed to.

When Milo was 9 and 3/4 months old Treasure came into heat. We took Milo up to Hutchinson and checked his sperm. Sure enough his sperm was good!! But a little low. Due to the fact he was young.I asked Dr Hutchinson, Can we try it?He said sure.

So much for low sperm count.
